Privacy policy for the use of Google Analytics and Google Ads

This website uses Google Analytics and Google Ads, both provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”) for the European Union and the United Kingdom. These services help us understand how visitors use our website and measure the effectiveness of our advertising.

These services are only activated after you have given your consent via the cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for the future, by reopening the cookie settings from the link in our website footer. The legal basis for all processing described in this section is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics is a web analytics service which uses cookies and similar identifiers to analyse how visitors interact with our website. The cookies set by Google Analytics on this site begin with _ga.

When you visit our pages, the following information is collected and transmitted to Google:

  • a truncated version of your IP address (IP anonymisation is enabled by default in Google Analytics 4 — the full IP address is never stored)
  • the pages you visit, the time spent on the site, the referring URL and basic device/browser information
  • a randomly generated identifier stored in the _ga cookie, which allows Google Analytics to distinguish your session from those of other visitors

We have configured Google Analytics so that Google Signals are disabled and ad-personalisation signals are not transmitted. Your data is therefore not used to build cross-device advertising profiles or to personalise advertising on other websites.

The data is processed on our behalf in order to compile statistics about website usage and to help us improve our content.

Google Ads Conversion Tracking

We use Google Ads to advertise on Google’s search results pages and on partner sites. To measure whether someone who has clicked one of our advertisements subsequently submits an enquiry form on our website, Google Ads sets the cookie _gcl_au when you arrive via a paid advertisement. This cookie does not contain any personal information about you and is only used to attribute a form submission to the advertising click. It expires automatically after 90 days.

Enhanced Conversions for Leads

When you submit a contact form on this website, a hashed copy of the information you provide (specifically: your email address and, where supplied, your phone number, first name and last name) is transmitted to Google.

Hashing before transmission. Your information is converted into an irreversible SHA-256 hash inside your browser before being sent. The original plain-text values never leave your device. Google compares these hashes against hashes of the data held in its own systems in order to attribute the conversion to the advertising click that brought you to our site. Google cannot reconstruct your original data from the hash.

Purpose. This feature, known as Google Ads “Enhanced Conversions for Leads”, allows us to measure the effectiveness of our advertising more accurately, particularly when browser cookies are deleted, blocked or unavailable across devices. The data is used solely to attribute conversions and to optimise the performance of our advertising campaigns. It is notused to display personalised advertising to you.

International data transfers

Data collected by Google Analytics and Google Ads may be transferred to and processed by Google LLC in the United States. This transfer is safeguarded by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, to which Google LLC is certified, and by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

Retention periods

  • Google Analytics user data and event data: retained for 14 months from the date of collection, after which it is automatically deleted by Google.
  • Google Ads conversion data, including hashed identifiers from Enhanced Conversions: retained for the period stated in Google’s own retention policy for conversion measurement (currently up to 540 days), after which it is automatically deleted.

Your rights and how to opt out

You can opt out of Google Analytics and Google Ads tracking on this website at any time by reopening the cookie banner via the “Cookie settings” link in our footer and withdrawing your consent. Tracking will stop immediately for all future visits, and the relevant cookies will be deleted or expire.

You also have the following rights under the GDPR with regard to the data processed by us through Google services: right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and the right to object (Art. 21). To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details in the Contact section of this Privacy Policy.
